TIPS ON MOVING A LOAD WITH A FORKLIFT
- Determine the approximate weight of the load.
- Look at the DATA PLATE that is attached to every forklift to determine what capacity the forklift can pick up safely. It maybe near the Manufactures Data Plate.
- The weight of the load should be less than lifting capacity of the forklift.
- Adjust your forks to the proper width according to the load size. This will need to be done manuelly unless you have a hydraulic fork positioner on your forklift.
- Measure the length of your forks, they should be long enough to go under approximately 2/3 of the load. If the forks are to short you may need to get some Fork Extensions.
- Now, you are ready the start your forklift and get your forks under your load. Be sure to always buckle your seat belt. You will need to tilt your forks down at an angle using your "TILT LEVER FORWARD"on the forklift and drive foward to slide your forks under the load.
- Now that you have your forks under the load, you will want to tilt the load back by using your "TILT LEVER BACK" on the forklift. Then pick the load up just high enough to travel with the load safely. Be sure to always travel in reverse for maxium visablilty.
- Delivery your load to it's destination, and do a reverse proceedure in setting the load down and pulling out from under your load.
Congratulation, you have safely move yout load.
